Identity(2003)

Identity,2003, Directed by James Mangold.

 The opening sequence of the film begins in a dark room where their is only the use of artificial light which comes from a lamp as the sequence goes their a loads of props which appear to be newspaper cut outs are spread across a table which appear to articles from a newspaper which seem to display an accident which recently happened and this is clear for the audience to see because their are close up shots taken of the newspaper which look brownish which give the audience the idea that the film is set in the olden times. Their are diegetic sounds of thunder in the background add the sense of a thriller to the film or horror because that effect is used to make the audience fill scared which is why it is put horror films because it makes the film more scary or adds anticipation to the film . The non diegetic sound is the sound of music in the background which adds suspense to film with its fast and up beat tempo which puts this film in the genre for suspense thriller also in the opening their is a voice taking about something which sound like a series of events which will be considered as diegetic sound because he can hear himself when he speaks

Hannibal( Ridley Scott,2001)

The opening sequence to Hannibal begins with a man talking to another as of they are narrating a story . Their is then a establishing short of both characters speaking to each other which shows that are having a conversation. Their is then a close up shot of a character sitting in a chair who looks disconfigured face the camera then switches to a close up shot of the male character he is speaking to who looks normal. The male character with normal appearance presents the old man with the disconfigured face with a gift which their is then a close up of which appeared to be a gold hockey which the man with the disconfigured face was interested in and this is represented with an eye line match of the old man looking at the mask. Whilst their is background music playing which has a slow tempo which adds suspense to the scene.

Blood Simple( Joel Coen, 1984)

The opening sequence starts of with a low angle shot of car driving down a dark road while it is raining. In the next part a woman starts to talk as of she's the narrator of story , their is then a quick cut to a man and woman talking to each other whilst in silouhette the male driving and the female character in the passenger seat. In the background their is suspenseful music playing at a slow tempo and as every at they approach whilst driving head lights shine through the mirror names fade in and out. A car then stops in front of the male and female l the male characters face is revealed as he turns around and the light shines on his face where as the females identity is still hidden.

Memento(Christopher Nolan,2000)

The opening sequence to Momento starts off with a close up shot of a picture in deep focus which is shaken about every 5 seconds and every time the character shakes the picture it becomes lighter which gives me the audience the idea that it is going backwards because of how the picture was once had red on it and as it is shaken it gets lighter and lighter.After the picture is done being shaken their is a vertical pan shot which slowly reveals the appearance of the character as he puts the now clear picture into his camera and takes of photo, their is then a quick high angle shot of the body on the floor with blood all around it. The background music is playing which has a slow tempo which makes the audience feel anxious. As the opening sequence continues their are is a close up shot of blood moving on the floor which is in deep focus , their is then a cut to the a bullet on the floor and then glasses in the corner then a close up of a dead characters head. Then the character with the camera stands up and his gun flies into his hand and the bullet fragment back in to gun also the dead character on the floors glasses fly back onto his face and all of his blood is gone and the character is alive again.
